We’re going to hold off on writing an update this month, as it will be more practical to wait until our visit to the States is over. Our return flight to Athens is scheduled for January 29 so we only have two weeks left at this point. For now we would like to simply thank you all for praying and say that our time here has been exceedingly blessed and refreshing, despite the difficult circumstances that led us to make the trip, i.e. Suzie’s dad George’s cancer. The surgery to remove the cancerous thyroid went exceptionally well and the surgeon reported that he got most of it out. George will still need to undergo some radiation therapy but the doctors are very hopeful that it will knock out the remaining cancer. Please keep praying though as you never can tell how these things will unfold. As you can see we’ve added a few pics & some informative prayer requests below. Please pray 🙂
Suzie’s Dad: Complete recovery from surgery and healing of remaining cancer thru radiation treatment.
Our Health: We’ve been fighting off coughs, colds and allergies since before arriving in the States and haven’t really had a break since. Please pray for us to shake it all off a.s.a.p. 🙂 Not Fun!
Updates at Supporting Churches: On Thursday (1/17) we will be giving an update to the CC South Bay missions board over lunch, and on Sunday (1/20) we will be updating Newport Coast Lighthouse at their morning service. Please pray for a fruitful time.
A fruitful last two weeks in the U.S.: That we would continue to connect with family, friends, and our churches. We have a very packed schedule and need the energy and sustaining grace to keep it!
Our personal walks with God: That our personal knowledge of the love of Christ would increase, that the fruit of His Spirit would abound in us, and that our ministry would truly be an outflow of His work in us.
Sensitivity to the Spirit: That we would continue to grow in our ability to discern the leading and voice of the Holy Spirit in our personal lives and ministry. We are praying about several different ministry possibilities for the coming year, both events and regular weekly opportunities. We only want to put our hands to the ploughs that God has given us.
Bible Studies: We will be hitting the ground running when we return to Athens, please pray for the Seeker’s Class that I co-teach (we are continuing in Mark), Suzie’s women’s study (she will be doing the teaching segments thru the whole book of 1 Samuel), and our new Bible study soon to start after we return (I am still praying about what book to go thru but am leaning toward Ephesians). Thanking the Lord for the public meeting place that He has provided!
Finishing the CD Project: We are inches away from finishing the “How Can A Man Be Born-Again” CD project, please pray for its completion and use in the near future.
Fruitful relationships: That God would continue to increase the fruitfulness of the relationships He is forging with the Christian pastors, leaders and workers we are serving alongside of, as well as with those whom we are ministering to both thru discipleship and evangelization.
The Peace of Greece: Continue to pray for God to use the hard times that Greece is experiencing to soften people’s hearts toward Christ, and for peace and safety to reign, and for the violence against the immigrants to stop.
Provision: We thank the Lord for His faithfulness to provide and ask that you continue to pray for provision for the remaining needs we have while in the States (i.e. clothing, some electronics, travel expenses). Also provision for the bills that await us in Athens upon our return, for our regular monthly needs, and for a new apartment. We will be looking when we get back as our lease is up in March. Our need is for a more practical and economical home for us and the ministry.
Thanks for taking the time to stand in the gap with us thru prayer! God is Good!
